The autumn renovation was carried out on the Madeira Greens at the end of September. This was planned early this season as, for various reasons, it was not completed last year.
We used Avon SportsGround Maintenance Company to do the work and they arrived very promptly at 7.45 am on 2nd October. They had two teams of men and two sets of machinery and very quickly scarified the greens using a Graden scarifier and followed with an old mower to pick up the debris. They then mini cored the greens to take out more thatch and the teams then cleared up the debris and cores into the trailer.
The greens were re-seeded, top dressed and then the dressing was brushed into the greens before final re-seeding with another different seed. The whole process was completed within a day with a very professional group of workmen. We hope that this autumn work will help give the club members excellent greens to play on again next year.
We are extremely grateful to the member who kindly lent us his trailer, bringing it down to the club and removing it when the job was completed and disposing of the debris. This is another example of how members can support the club in so many different ways.
